ADC Announcement

Resignation of Narelle Mills

The Board of the Australian Dental Council (ADC) announces the resignation of our Chief Executive Officer, Narelle Mills, who will conclude her tenure in March 2024. Narelle has decided to embark on the next chapter of her career after seven years of dedicated service and significant contributions to the ADC.

Narelle has been an instrumental figure in the evolution and success of the ADC, consistently showcasing exceptional leadership, dedication, and a passion for advancing health practitioner education, both within dentistry and across the regulated health professions. Under her leadership, the ADC has achieved numerous milestones, and her impact will undoubtedly leave a lasting legacy.

Reflecting on Narelle’s tenure, Dr Chris Bourke, Chair of the Board, expressed gratitude.

“Over the past seven years, Narelle has led the ADC through transformative growth and achieved significant outcomes for the organisation. We have confidence in the strong foundations she has established, which will continue to guide our future endeavours.”

As we commence the recruitment process for a new CEO, the Board is dedicated to identifying an individual who will maintain the culture, values, and aspirations of the ADC.

In this transitional phase, the Board and Senior Leadership Team want to emphasise that every measure will be taken to maintain uninterrupted day-to-day operations, as we remain committed to providing support to our employees, stakeholders and community.

“In our view, this change marks the next step in ADC’s journey, and we anticipate navigating this transformation collaboratively,” remarked Dr Bourke.

In expressing her sentiments about this transition, Narelle Mills reflected:

“I would like to extend my gratitude to all the individuals I’ve had the privilege of working with during my time at the ADC. The journey since 2016 has been marked by achievements, challenges, and opportunities for personal and professional growth. Together, we’ve built a successful and respected organisation. As I reflect on my next steps in the coming months, I appreciate the experiences and relationships that have enriched my professional life.”

The Board will formally acknowledge and celebrate Narelle’s significant contributions to the ADC in the near future. We extend our best wishes to Narelle and are confident that her expertise and passion will continue to make a positive impact wherever she goes.
