Refund policy introduced for practical examination candidates

The impact of government restrictions, including lockdowns and border closures, has been extensive, especially for practical examination candidates.

In response the Australian Dental Council is providing refunds to candidates unable to travel into Victoria to sit their practical examination due to Victorian Government restrictions classifying their place of residence as a red zone. The policy applies retrospectively and prospectively to practical examinations held between 1 January and 31 December 2021.

With government restrictions affecting multiple cohorts, we were committed to developing a refund policy which is fair and equitable for all candidates. This work was extensive and required time and careful consideration to ensure it was appropriately considered.

All eligible candidates under this policy will be provided with a full refund of the examination fee and will be eligible to reapply for a new practical examination place for a future date. This will provide flexibility for candidates regarding availability for upcoming examination application periods, but also recognises that returning the examination fee may also financially assist some candidates significantly impacted in lockdown areas. Future application periods and examination dates will be advertised on our website once they are confirmed.

We would like to thank all our candidates for their patience throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The Australian Dental Council team works with our candidates top of mind. We are committed to providing you with every opportunity to complete your dental practitioner assessment process, even during these uncertain times.
