The Australian Dental Council (ADC), in collaboration with all Australian dental practitioner program providers, and endorsed by the Dental Board of Australia (DBA), have released the COVID-19 dental practitioner program accreditation principles (the Principles) to help guide how both groups will work together during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The impact of COVID-19 has been unprecedented and far-reaching. For Australian providers of dental practitioner programs, measures to address the spread of COVID-19 have had significant consequences on delivery of dental education and training programs.

Agreed to by the ADC and the providers of Australian dental education programs, the Principles are designed with mutual respect of the other’s role within the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme and the education sector.

These principles work consistently with the national principles for clinical education during COVID-19 released by the Australian Government, through the Health and Education portfolios, the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra), national boards and the Health Professions Accreditation Collaborative Forum (HPACF) in mid-April 2020.
