Overview

The Australian Dental Council (ADC) is inviting applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples with a passion for improving Australian health outcomes to join our Board of Directors.

We have three upcoming vacancies on our Board of Directors. These vacancies are due to the expiring tenure of our existing members. Two positions will become vacant in November 2022 with an additional vacancy to open in February 2023. The ADC is committed to at least one of these positions being filled by a person who identifies as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander.

About the Australian Dental Council

The Australian Dental Council (ADC) is a values-driven independent, ‘for purpose’ company. Our vision is a healthcare system that is free of racism. Through our roles in accreditation and assessment, we want our work to contribute culturally safe healthcare, where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures are respected, and where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledges are embedded in the education and assessment of dental practitioners in Australia.

The ADC is appointed by the Dental Board of Australia to accredit Australian dental programs and assess the knowledge, clinical skills and professional attributes of overseas trained dental practitioners seeking registration to practice in Australia.

We strive to maintain our position as a leader in accreditation and assessment across Australia, and internationally. One way we will achieve this is by actively contributing to reconciliation and by embedding cultural safety in everything we do – as an employer, and in our roles in assessment and accreditation.
