The Board of the Australian Dental Council (ADC) is delighted to announce Jonathon Kruger has been appointed as the new ADC Chief Executive Officer.

Following an extensive national and international executive search the Board of the Australian Dental Council (ADC) is delighted to announce Jonathon Kruger has been appointed as the new ADC Chief Executive Officer. Jonathon will commence with the ADC on 29 July 2024.

He is an inspirational and inclusive leader who brings a wealth of prior experience to this position. With strengths in communications, business development and relationship management, Jonathon has a commitment to harnessing expertise to deliver organisational strategy and drive outstanding outcomes.

Jonathon has spent the last eight years with World Physiotherapy in London, where he has led a number of strategic activities and projects to shape the profession globally and improve the governance and operations of the organisation. Key achievements with the organisation have included delivery of over 50 advocacy campaigns in collaboration with member organisations, support for 26 national physiotherapy associations joining the confederation, representation with global health organisations and advancing education and training programs in Africa, Southeast Asia and Central Asia.

Prior to joining World Physiotherapy, Jonathon was the General Manager – Policy with the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) in Melbourne. Jonathon led the policy areas of health policy, safety and quality, international development and indigenous health. He led relationships with governments in relation to workforce and other major issues and led the strategy and business planning for ANZCA.

Earlier Jonathon was the Director – Corporate Governance with Northern Health and before this the General Manager – Advocacy and International Relations with the Australian Physiotherapy Association.

Jonathon is a personable and highly engaging individual who is naturally a systems thinker and connector of people. He works to set goals and targets with his teams and engage collaboratively to deliver results. He has led extensive accreditation and assessment programs and has been responsible for the international expansion of his current organisation.

Jonathon Kruger shared his thoughts on his new appointment: “I am truly honoured to join the exceptional team at the ADC as CEO. The ADC has established itself as a leading accreditation authority and I look forward to building upon its legacy of excellence. Together we will continue delivering high quality accreditation and assessment services, while embracing innovation and exploring new opportunities for growth.”

We would also like to acknowledge Veronica Vele who we have appointed as interim CEO during this transitional period. Veronica will continue to support the organisation as Interim CEO until July, when Jonathon commences, she will then re-assume her role as Director of Assessments and Examinations.
